A Tribute to Jointpop by Jason Jarvis
King Radio gets its title not from the 1930's calypso pioneer of the same name, but from the third track off the local rock band Jointpop's debut album Port-of Spain Style.
The piece is a culmination of various ideas but its chief proponent was me desiring to pay tribute to a great song. Consequently, it shows that calypso and its derivatives do not hold a monopoly on Carnival imagery.
